Day 194 - Road Trip to the Gold Coast (Part 2)

Australia Road Trip Day Two: Grafton to Gold Coast

Australia Road Trip Day Two: Grafton to Gold Coast

Grafton Downtown

Grafton Downtown

Breakfast, they say, is the most important meal of the day.  With that in mind, we headed to the Grafton's "downtown" area for some grub at a place called Toast Cafe.  Service was a bit slow, but food was good and we all had a nice hearty breakfast, hoping it would carry us through to right around dinner time.

Australia is definitely all sorts of upside down, compared to the US.  The farther north we drove the hotter it got.  It was as if we were driving north to get to Florida! I think the Gold Coast and the Sunshine State (Florida) have a lot in common.  Alas we arrived at our vacation house in a town called Upper Coomera.  Another wonderful find through Airbnb!

The private pool in the backyard was absolutely perfect for the exhausted road travelers. 3...2...1...jump in!

After sufficient relaxation, Sheema and I made a trip to the grocery store.  The kids continued hanging out and playing outside by the pool with daddy nearby.

I know I have said it multiple times and am starting to sound like a broken record, but the house was really amazing.  We even had a grill by the pool which we used for making dinner and were able to eat outside.  There were surprisingly no vicious mosquitos to feast on us as we ate!

I'd say our first day on the Gold Coast was a relaxing success! The kids had some ice cream for dessert and we got to see a nice juicy lizard before everyone headed to bed! It reminded us of Juicy, the lizard that used to live in our house in Riogordo, Spain.  Ah the memories! :)

Tomorrow we are going to check out a waterpark nearby and maybe we can even squeeze in a movie at night! Until then....
